March Madness

There is little reason for NYC residents to go to SXSW Music Festival, apart from the joy of getting out of the city, barbeque and migas (the official breakfast of Austin). But you really won’t be missing much music-wise if you stay here. Any American band worth hearing plays the city already, and most bands coming from England or elsewhere in Europe usually make a Manhattan pitstop on the way to or from the festival.

This year, March seems especially manic. By my count, I’m going to seeing 19 nights of shows in March. Some of those nights include two shows. Most of these are either British bands, with a few Swedes and Yanks thrown in as well. I may not make it to all of these but here is my schedule (shows with an * are highly recommended by me and not sold out):

March  2: Belle & Sebastian w/ New Pornographers at the Nokia Theatre
March  3: Of Montreal at Bowery Ballroom

  1. Hey Bill do you have a link for any touring info or band page for The Bats? I wanted to see if they were coming to Chicago but I keep running into Fruit Bats pages vs. The Bats.
