Best of 2005 | MOJO

Mojo_bestof2005 I don’t think MOJO is quite at the level of excellence it was maybe four years ago when they could make stories on old bands I never cared about interesting, but it’s probably still the best music magazine in publication. (Actually, WORD is better, but it is more contemporary and though it covers movies and some TV as well.) Despite having at least one of the Beatles on the cover every four issues, they still seem to have their finger on the pulse… even if some of their choices for Best of 2005 seem a bit safe. They didn’t do a singles/tracks list, but they did do Top Tens for different genres.

  1. Konono #1 Gets Some Love

The latest post at Said the Gramophone has a Konono No. 1 MP3 for download. Pitchfork said Congotronics is the 31st best album of 2005. CMJ made it #19. #22 in MOJO Magazine. Previously Konono No. 1 @ SOBs, NYC…

  2. the new Neil Diamond allbum is about a million times better then the new Neil Young album.Too bad some "cool" publications dont have the guts to give props to 12 Songs.Well, not being "in" is what makes Neil Diamond cool.Nothing cooler then being the outsider!

  3. In MOJO's defense, as far as the Neils are concerned, it doesn't look like 12 Songs has been released in the UK yet, so it wasn't eligible for their 2005 list.

  4. Gorillas are vegetarian, why are they so physically powerful?
Gorillas look powerful. I would like to know what is their main source of protein comes from? Since gorillas are vegeterian for the most part, does that mean they have to eat lots of fruits and vegetable to get high amount of protein for their muscules. Bears are very strong animal, but their protein comes from fish and possibly other sources of meat. How can a gorilla be so strong being raised on bananas?
