Elbow‘s third album, Leaders of the Free World, has a good shot at the top spot of my 2005 year-end list — it’s far-and-away the best thing they’ve ever done. The band are coming over for some press days and have kindly worked in a show at the Hiro Ballroom on November 3.
Tickets are $17 and already on sale.
I’ve seen Elbow twice before and they are quite magnetic live performers, even with frontman Guy Garvey sitting on a stool for much of the show. Add to this the atmosphere of the Hiro (and not bad sound, either, if the Metric and Hot Chip shows I saw are any indication) and this is the makings for an excellent night.
Meanwhile, check out the inventive, expensive-looking video for the album’s first single, "Forget Myself." (Windows Media)
